Disabling the Flash Player
In Internet Explorer 6
To disable Flash in IE, you have to disable all ActiveX controls and plugins.
- Go into your Internet Options in the Tools menu.
- On the Security tab, make sure you are in the "Internet" zone, and click the Custom Level button.
- In the first section (ActiveX controls and plug-ins), look for the line that says "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins." It should be enabled. Select either disable (IE will not run any AcitveX) or prompt (IE will ask before running ActiveX).
- If you do this at school, please remember to change the browser settings back when you are done!
In Opera 8
As always, it's easier with Opera.
- Go to Quick Preferences in the Tools menu.
- Uncheck the box next to "Enable plug-ins."
In Other Browsers
I'm sure it's pretty easy to do something similar. You are smart and will figure it out.
